5 Ways To Enjoy A Sunny Day In The New Forest

Aaah glorious spring!

Everything is lush, green and growing abundantly with all of the wonderful sunshine we’ve been having. So, when it comes to making the most of every day, here are 5 ways you can enjoy a sunny day in the New Forest, no matter how you like to escape.

1. Relax, soaking it all in

For some, the sun is a sign of pure relaxation. Time to rest and recover, soak up vitamin D and bathe in the rays.

If that sounds like you, a break at our New Forest hotel where all you have to do is decide where in the garden you’ll sit might be just what you’re looking for. Find your spot in our garden with a good book, listen to the birds, sip cocktails and graze the day away thanks to the fabulous Neigh Bar, conjuring delicious light bites and refreshing ice cold drinks when you need them.

For ultimate peace and quiet you can book a Garden Room where you can enjoy a mindful breakfast on your private patio simply listening to the birds and reading the paper – creating those simple but wonderful moments you wish you could savour forever.

2. Adventure-seek and feast

For the ones who see the sun as the perfect opportunity for adventure, a cycling break and a sunny day riding the winding trails in the forest might just be your perfect getaway.

Bring your bike or hire them nearby for stress-free packing. Escape for a short weekend or midweek break and get outside and enjoy the warmth of the sun and that wonderful post-adventure exhaustion knowing you have a big sumptuous bed to crawl into at the end of the day. But not before you feast and refuel at one of our three hotel restaurants, depending on what do you fancy. French cuisine, a table of Thai specialties or modern British dishes, all crafted from local seasonal produce wherever possible.

3. Roam free

The New Forest is also a special place to enjoy on foot.

Look up at the tall trees, their ancient canopies providing wonderful shade on the warmest of days; look down at the moss-covered forest floor and enjoy the cooling breeze as it travels through the leaves. You can walk from our country hotel into our beautiful National Park or take scenic drives to nearby car parks and set out to spot our famous ponies and donkeys, watch sunrises or set out for post-dinner sunsets during the summer months. Visit the Blackwater Arboretum, follow the Tall Trees Trail, watch the tranquil deer feeding at the Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary. Or walk and wander around one of our many wonderful nearby attractions, from the gardens of Exbury and the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu to Pepper Pig World, a favourite for the little ones.

There are endless ways to explore and enjoy our New Forest.

4. Be beside the seaside

What about the beach!

For many the sunny weather conjures images of beach days and ice creams. If that’s the case, you can escape to the New Forest for a hotel break and spend your days beside the seaside, eating all the ice cream you want.

Our hotel is a 20-minute drive from the coastal villages of Milford-On-Sea, or the beach towns of Barton or Highcliffe, or a 30-minute drive to Lepe Country Park. Don’t forget your bucket and spade!

5. Head to the island

If you like to take to the sea and explore. Plan a trip on a sunny day to the Isle of Wight from the nearby market town of Lymington, the shortest and quickest trip across on the car ferry over to the island. Or you can park and head over as a foot passenger. It’s the ideal adventure for a day, with more than 60 miles of coastline and award-winning beaches to explore. Walk, bike, surf or paddle, or spend the day driving around the island and be back in the middle of our ancient woodland by dinner.

Sometimes, you don’t need new things to do you just need somewhere new to do what you love. Time away to spend it as you wish, whether it’s to wander, explore, simply relax, dip or cycle, and our New Forest hotel is just the place, offering the best of coast and country, for those unforgettable stress-free sunny days.
