What’s On in the New Forest This Autumn

It’s that time of year again, when we start to prepare ourselves for the change in season...

The evenings ever gently draw closer, the leaves will soon start to turn and we will begin to layer up as the days feel a little cooler.

Autumn is a special season for us in the New Forest, it feels almost magical as the green turns to an amber glow inviting you out for crunchy-leaved walks and unforgettable sunsets. So, as we look towards autumn, perhaps it’s the perfect time to book that digital detox, a kid-free break, where you can reset and unwind.

Here are a few things you can look forward to when you plan an autumn break in the heart of our National Park.

Digital Detox Spa Break

If the idea of a tech-free, child-free break is speaking to you, look no further than the Unplugged: Digital Detox Spa Break. This deeply relaxing break focuses on renewal and restoration away from technology and the distractions of everyday life. For this reason, there will be a mobile phone amnesty box in your room, so you can, should you choose, be free from your tech when you need to be.

Take mindful walks in the forest, de-stress and decompress with time spent in SenSpa’s hydrotherapy suite, lie down to a 30-minute massage to soothe tired and aching muscles and then nourish the body with dinner in one of our three hotel restaurants. You’ll also receive the ‘Ultimate Digital Detox Gift Box’ (worth £99 each) including a ‘Positive Planner’ self-care journal, ‘Dirtea’ functional mushroom powder, Pure Earth Kombucha, Forest Therapy Guide, SenSpa Reviving Body Wash and Body Soak, and a Scentered Therapy Balm.

Restoration and rest are not luxuries, but are essential to combat the stresses of our busy lives. Sometimes you need to savour something for you. Guilt-free time to slow down, disconnect from the world and reconnect to yourself.

Sen Sound Sessions

This autumn, we’d like to encourage you to step into new experiences, and with that in mind, discover our Sen Sound Sessions at SenSpa.

These unique ‘aquatic sound experiences’ are designed to deeply relax and revitalise mind and body by immersing you in ambient sounds and harnessing the benefits of hydrotherapy.

In September’s session ‘Celebrate Your Journey with the Harvest Moon’ and in November, ‘Illuminate Your Targets with the Hunter’s Moon.’

Autumn Walks and Cycles

Autumn in the New Forest is unlike any other season and is, for many, their favourite time to walk, talk, cycle and explore. There are miles of tracks and trail, and varied routes suitable for all abilities. Hire bikes in the village and set off for an afternoon. Or drive the scenic roads from our Hampshire hotel and find walks throughout the National Park that take in the wildlife and capture our beautiful landscapes. When legs are tired and it’s time to come inside, sit down to a cup of tea (or cocktail) in front of the fire and enjoy a rest before dinner.

Take a look at some of the best short but sweet Autumn Colour Walks and start planning your autumn break adventures:

Whilst you are out walking through the New Forest, look out for the snuffling Pannage pigs. Set free by Commoners for the ‘Pannage,’ it is a tradition that dates back to the time of William the Conqueror, where pigs are set loose to eat the acorns and chestnuts that are poisonous to the ponies.

Black Tie Charity Dinner

This autumn we are proudly supporting the Royal Southampton Yacht Club Trust by hosting this wonderful Black-Tie Charity Dinner. A local charity run by a small group of trustees, they offer new skills to more than 150 young carers each year; they do not receive any statutory funding and rely mainly on grants and awards, as well as donations and fundraising events such as this.

‘Established in 2016, the RSYC Trust is a local charity, which provides on-the-water activities for disadvantaged young people, principally young carers in Hampshire. With many of their objectives being education and wellbeing based, we have decided to support this charity as one who aligns with our own mission – to champion the wellbeing of our team; to create a positive impact on our local communities; and to protect the natural environment.’

Friday 1st November – Limited tickets available

Discover Foraging

Despite there being foraging opportunities year-round throughout the New Forest, autumn really is a highlight, offering the perfect conditions for fungi, mushrooms and blackberries to thrive. We always recommend heading out with an expert and learning the skills and best practices in order to stay safe and sustainable.
